Bicycle March held

Young people with bicycles have shown their support for actions which the Ulaanbaatar City Governor’s Office and the Millenium Challenge Foundation are taking to reduce air pollution and traffic congestion in Ulaanbaatar.

Over 100 cyclists rode under the motto, ‘We choose bicycles’ in a route of Sukhbaatar Square to Sapporo Intersection recently. The march was jointly organized by the Environmental Health Department of the Health Sciences University of Mongolia, ‘Bicycle World’ store and the Young Cyclist Club under the Mongolian Youth Association.

Youth are expressing their support for a healthier method of transportation to prevent cardiovascular disease by riding bicycles. The increased use of bicycles will play a significant role in reducing air pollution too. The march will be held annually. And for the 373th anniversary of the establishment of Ulaanbaatar City, city residents will enjoy a day without automobiles on October 28.
