CANARAIL Establishes Permanent Presence in Mongolia

Canadian Rail Specialist Pursues International Development in Asia.

MONTREAL, Oct. 9, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - CANARAIL's President, Miguel Valero, is proud to announce the opening of a new subsidiary in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. For this Montreal-based consulting and engineering firm specialized in railway and heavy haul transport, this is a new strategic establishment outside of Canada.

"The decision to establish a more solid and permanent presence in Mongolia was an easy one. We see great potential in helping the fast-growing Mongolian mining industry to improve its infrastructure. This opening fits perfectly with our growth strategy in developing heavy haul/mining solutions worldwide. It will allow us to be closer to our current and future clients. Also, in order to reinforce our market presence and impact, CANARAIL retained the services of one of the most recognized Mongolian strategic advisers, ZAZA Corporate Counsel LLC ." said Mr. Valero.

In recent weeks, CANARAIL has secured new major contracts in Mongolia. First, Energy Resources Rail (ERR), a subsidiary of Mongolian Mining Corporation, has mandated the supervision of a construction project of a new line between Ukhaa Khudag and Gashuun Sukhait to the partnership of Mott McDonald and CANARAIL. Also, CANARAIL will be working directly with ERR on another contract to perform value engineering of a feasibility study and its detailed design.

CANARAIL possesses a unique expertise in rail transport, with a strong focus on heavy haul and mining sectors. Its experts have participated in major projects on an international scale over the last 20 years, contributing to the completion of some of the most important projects worldwide.

Mongolia's mining and natural resource industries benefit from the country's rich deposits of coal, copper and iron, among others. As the country develops its rapidly growing mining industry, it wants to be able to call on local companies as well as international expertise to ensure sustainability and performance by identifying and implementing the best possible solutions.

"Transportation of heavy haul by rail is the best possible way to significantly reduce operation and transport costs, all while having a lower environmental impact than transport by truck. It's clear to us and to our clients that this is an integral part of success for the mining industry," added Mr. Valero.

By opening this business subsidiary in Mongolia, CANARAIL thus strengthens its presence in Asia, where it is currently working on numerous projects in Cambodia and Bangladesh, among others.
