Ch.Enkhtaivan: Mongolian romances are so melodious and expressive
Soloist of the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet,Ch.Enkhtaivan, is going to put on his first independent performance titled ‘Recital’ at the State Philharmonic Orchestra on October 19.
Ch.Enkhtaivan is definitely one of Mongolia’s best opera singers. He has proven to be a talented singer several times on the international stage during the last few years. He won fourth place at the International Tchaikovsky Competition of Opera singers, third place at the International Opera Competition of Young Singer held in Sankt-Peterburg and won second place at the M.Glink International Opera Festival. He also took fourth place at the Rimsky-Korsakov Competition and won second place at the Opera Singers’ Competition (named after N.Obuhov) in June.
The singer has answered some questions about his upcoming performance.
-The title of the concert and the idea seem very interesting. How many works will the concert include?
-The ‘recital’ is an Italian word which means to narrate. The concert will include romances. In particular, Mongolia has many great composers. I’m preparing to perform seven romances by two-time State Prized composer, N.Jantsannorov and State Prized composer,B.Sharav in my first independent concert. Romance demonstrates the real quality of professional artists. The songs have the same melody as the chorus, but the romance has a non-repetitive melody and changes depending on the meaning of the lyrics. The concert will have two parts. The six romances by composer N.Jantsannorov will be performed in the first part and the libretto was written by Cultural Merit Worker D.Tsedev. The libretto of the six romances by B.Sharav that will be presented in the second part was written by R.Choinom and one is written by writer B.Lhagvasuren.
-What is the reason for choosing all Mongolian romances for your concert?
-There are many great romances which are well-known in the world. However, Mongolian romances are also equally remarkable – they are very melodious and expressive. The librettos are impressive. Actually, the ‘Recital’ concert would be a series of concerts. I thought it would be better to present Mongolian romances so that it would be easier for Mongolians to understand romances.
-Who will be the concertmaster of the concert?
-I will perform the Mongolian romances with my teacher concertmaster Ts.Myagmartseren.
-Which romances are you going to perform next time?
-I have many plans and works to do. I recently founded a production group named ‘Grande’ with a friend of mine. The plans for the next concert are yet to be made, however, I am thinking about performing romances by S. Rachmaninoff, A.S. Pushkin, P. Tchaikovsky, R. Schumann and F. Shubert.
