Judokas take four bronze medals at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

The Mongolian judo team won four bronze medals at the International Judo Grand Prix tournament, which was held from October 11 to October 13 in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Over 130 athletes from 27 countries competed in the tournament. This year the Grand Prix was a particularly important event as it was the qualifying tournament for the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games. The Mongolian team competed with 11 judokas in four weight categories in both the men’s and women’s divisions.

On the first day of the tournament, international sports master D. Amartuvshin won bronze in the men’s 66 kilogram weight category, with G. Otgontsetseg also taking bronze in the women’s 48 kilogram weight category. On the seconad day, international sports master G. Odbayar took bronze in the men’s 73 kilogram weight category and B.Mungunchimeg took another bronze for Mongolia in the women’s 63 kilogram weight category.

The remaining six Mongolian judokas placed fifth in their weight categories, with the Mongolian team ranking 11th overall.
