Mongol Rally: Stop Motion 'Return Of The YAK' Documentary Relives Road Trip To Mongolia (VIDEO)
Most people recreate travel memories through photos, but a group of guys from the United Kingdom decided to relive their 2011 road trip to Mongolia a little differently.
Using stop motion animation and what very well resembles the inventory of a cleared-out arts and craft store, Oliver Martin, Oscar Freemantle, Ed Laver and Jack Rubinstein have filmed the beginnings of what will be a documentary of their journey from Brighton, U.K. to Mongolia during their time at the 2011 Mongul Rally.
The rally pits teams of travellers to raise money for charities as they traverse from Europe to Asia. Rules are few, namely that participants' cars must be under 10 years old and have engines no bigger than 1.2 litres. That, and teams must raise a minimum of £1,000 for charity.
Under the team name Return of the YAK, the group of four travelled 10,000 miles through 18 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia over a span of six weeks according to the group's Facebook page.
"We're adjusting the terrain to [match] the terrain of the countries we went through. In Europe, the colour of grass, Middle East and Central Asia we went with sand, a bit of soil," says Rubinstein in the video, which runs just a little short of three and a half minutes.
