Mongolian University Sports Festival – ‘Universiade’ Opens

The third Mongolian University Sports Festival ‘Universiade’ officially held its opening on last Thursday, October 25th. The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism,Ts.Oyungerel, and the Head of Presidential Office, P.Tsagaan, and the President of the Mongolian University Sports Federation, D.Bayasgalan, were present during the opening ceremonies as well as delegations of universities including the respective Directors of the participating Universities and Institutes, as well as students.

The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism,Ts.Oyungerel, noted during her opening speech that most athletes of the National Team of Mongolia were students. Mr. P.Tsagaan also delivered a greeting from the President of Mongolia and wished the best of luck to all the contestants.

Mongolian State honored Coach, P.Jigjidsuren is working as the Head Judge at the festival. He pledged on behalf of all the judges and referees to officiate the festival fairly. Additionally, student athlete Khaliun, the Silver Medalist of the 2012 Asian University Volleyball Championship Team, pledged that all athletes would compete fairly, respect the rules and regulations of the competition.
The Mongolian University Sports Festival ‘Universiade’ is hosting 15 events this year and will be in three competitive rounds. The winners will gain a right to represent our country in the 27th Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia, July 6-17, 2013.
