Mongolian women’s conference calls on women to participate in reforms

More than 800 delegates from all across Mongolia would discuss women’s roles in social reforms and ways to promote their employment over the next few days as the country’s third women’s conference opened here Thursday.

Prime Minister Norov Altanhuyag told the opening ceremony that his government hoped to see a more active role in all kinds of reforms by the majority of the nation’s female population, adding their participation was very important.

He also said women in Mongolia were a main force in business and production.

Some women delegates said they would be an active part in government reforms, calling on the authorities to further improve relevant policies to protect women’s and children’s rights and increase job opportunities for women.

Seeking to slash poverty, the Mongolian government over recent years has been trying to support women to do a better job in business.

A representative said although more females than males in Mongolia accepted higher education, yet their employment rate was lower than that of the males.
