Petro China DaqingTamsag Fined 1.3 Billion MNT

The State Supreme Court discussed Petro China Daqing Tamsag LLC`s case today and decided to uphold the primary court’s ruling. The primary court previously ruled that the company caused great loss and damage to the natural environment of the Tamsag area of the western province of Dornod during oil exploration and exploitation. The ruling also charged the company with failing to carry out their promise to protect and rehabilitate the surrounding nature during mining activities. After the ruling Petro China, which is100 percent Chinese invested, claimed the court`s decision was baseless and appealed to the State Supreme Court. Today the State Supreme Court reaffirmed the decision that the company should pay 1.3 billion MNT to the Matad Soum budget for causing natural and environment damages.
