Sit-in Strike in Government Palace

MPs from the MPP are holding a sit-in strike and holding slogan signs at parliament hall in protest of the new MPs G.Batkhuu and D.Zorigt`s taking oath. Their slogan signs say,“DP destroys democracy”, “Public service turns into household affair”, “Resign EGC of DP”, and “Robbery of the people`s choice.” MPs of the MPP, the former ruling party, have been blocking the front and back doors of the Government Palace with sofas and chairs to prevent MPs from the DP from entering the hall and taking oath since 18th of October. MPs in the MPP believe that the DP will have the new MPs take oath by majority votes. Reports say that preparations for taking oath have been done in parliament; therefore, MPs from the MPP are doing their best to prevent it. Officials fear that today`s parliament session would be cancelled because of the protest. While the sit-in strike takes place in parliament hall, supporters and members of the MPP are also protesting in the Central Square. They claim the Election General Committee made a one-sided decision on the controversial mandate in the Uvurkhangai province by showing favoritism and making a ruling that benefits the DP.
